Visibility into the Mechanical Behavior of Track Structure and Substructure Under Load

RET Infra Insight makes the mechanical behavior of the track structure and substructure visible under load. The flexible, quick-to-install measurement solution captures the dynamic interaction between rail, rail fastening, sleeper, ballast bed and substructure.

This makes it possible to detect excessive deflections, changes in track stiffness, settlements, movement of the rail within its fastening, and anomalies or loosening in the area of the rail clips, among other things.

Repeated or continuous measurements reveal local differences and long-term trends. Operators can use this to derive targeted measures, verify their effectiveness, and objectively validate maintenance work.

How it works

1. Measure
The measurement equipment captures and transmits relevant raw data during operation. Train passes are individually stored together with their context data.
2. Evaluate
The data is processed and automatically checked for anomalies and changes.
3. Identify Correlations and Trends
Repeated measurements reveal local differences and long-term developments in track behavior.
4. Validate Measures
You can objectively verify and compare the effectiveness of maintenance measures.

The process, step by step

  1. Registration for Infra Insight with Parametric (sales@parametric.ch)
  2. Scheduling
  3. Shipment of a measurement kit and access to the cloud environment
  4. Installation of the measurement equipment on the infrastructure
  5. Measurement during the agreed period, including monitoring of the equipment by Parametric
  6. Meeting with Parametric to discuss correlations and options
  7. Report and data export

What you receive

  • RET4000 Unit - mobile measurement node for autonomous data acquisition, battery-powered
  • Analysis tool access - cloud-based evaluation and detailed raw-data analysis
  • Joint review - shared detailed analysis and discussion of countermeasures after the measurement
